Welcome
Hawaii - Royal Caribbean Cruise 21 Days
We did two cruises, back to back, for a total of 21 days. We left from, and returned to
Ensenada, Mexico. In doing that, it allowed us to see each of the islands twice, so if we
missed an excursion or site we wanted to see on the first leg of the trip, we got to do it on
the second leg. It worked out beautifully for us. We had several hours in Honolulu
between the end of the first cruise and the beginning of the second cruise, so we chose to
see the Pearl Harbor museum during our time on shore. Our cruises were both on the
same ship, but we had a different stateroom on each, so we had to pack our bags and
move into the second room after re-boarding the ship.
There are so many
opportunities to see the
Hawaiian scenery and
culture.
On several of the islands, we chose to rent
cars and take our own travels to discover
the state. We shared some days with
friends from our dining table, so we got to
see scenery and landmarks with them as
well as doing some of the travels on our
own. The scenery in the islands is
absolutely breathtaking, and each island
offers different climates and views not
shared with other islands.
Some of our travels took us to see green
valleys and waterfalls. We also took in a
macadamia nut plantation, saw an active
volcano caldera from a distance, walked
across old lava flows that had overtaken
some of the land, we loved the island of
Kona and they coffee they produce. We
stopped for lunch at local restaurants and
learned what was good and maybe not
quite our taste during the stops. We visited
a marine museum and aquarium which was
fascinating.
A change to see old friends
On our stop in Maui we decided to take in
one of the best luau’s on the island. After
we were seated, a beautiful Hawaiian girl
came to our table and asked if we were Mr.
and Mrs. Fuller. When we said yes, she said
her mother-in-law wanted to speak to us
and handed us her cell phone.
The lady on the other side of the
conversation was a church friend we knew
when we were stationed in Germany. She
invited us to their island of Lanai the next
day to visit with them and take a tour of
their island. What a wonderful surprise.
We spent the day with Tina and visited her
husband Al for a short time (he was
working). Tina showed us all the local spots
and took us for lunch at a beautiful resort
where the restaurant overlooked the water.
What a treat!
On one of our final days in the island, we
drove along the coastline and came across
a turnout in the road where a park ranger
had telescopes set up overlooking the
ocean. It was whale season and we got to
watch a few whales playing and breaching
above the water. It left us with a very
special memory of the trip.
Beautiful weather, soft tropical breezes and flowers in bright
colors. What more could we ask for?

Hawaii - Royal Caribbean Cruise 21 Days
This was one of our best cruises ever, a 21 day cruise from Ensenada, Mexico to
the Hawaiian Islands and back again. Seas were a little rough for the first 3 days,
but became calm as we neared the islands and had beautiful clear sailing the rest
of the cruise. We saw all of the islands at least from a distance, but made stops on
Maui, Hilo, the big island, Hawaii, Kaui, Oahu, and we even took the local ferry
to see friends in Lanai.
The TV in your cabin updates you on the weather
and position.
A map tells you right where you are.
Leaving Hawaii
There were sands of three different colors, depending on the island we visited.
The black sand was the most unusual, but we also saw very white sand and coral
pink sand on some of the beaches. We were fascinated to see very black crabs
walking on the black rocks on one of the beaches. They blended in with the color
of the beach.
