We spent at least four full days in New York City. We saw Mary Poppins on Broadway, we took in all of the major tourist attractions, and we stayed right ON Times Square. We walked nearly everywhere. It was fun to see in person what we have always seen on TV. We even got to see a little bit of Good Morning America in person. We got to see the Intrepid and were there during Fleet Week, so there were lots of Navy personnel walking around everywhere. The whole visit was an adventure we will never forget. The city was crowded, but not unbearable.

Our hotel right on Time Square

We could see the big M & M out our hotel room window.

Touring the city by double decker bus is great! You get to see a whole different perspective of the city and the buildings. Most of the tour guides are great. They each have a different view of the importance of places and events in the city's history.
One Way we think?
Times Square, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island were all important places we got to see. We got to walk up inside the base of the Statue of Liberty, which required a special ticket. We could look up and see the spiral staircase going up inside the actual statue. It was fascinating. The photo at the left is one of the original torches. We had a very short wait to catch the elevator to the top of the Empire State Building. We stayed until almost dusk so we could see the city change with the sun going down.
If you can't guess what the photo above is, it is a handrail inside the Empire State Building. All of the decor was very opulent.
