Welcome

We love to travel.

Can’t believe all the places we have been.

When we start to review all the places we have traveled, sometimes it even surprises us. We have been to cities, landmarks, museums, oceans, mountains and valleys, volcanos and places many people have only read or heard about. The funny thing about it is that we have both been in earthquakes, hurricanes, near tornadoes and both saw the remnants of the Mount Saint Helens eruption. We have traveled to 4 continents, many different nations and the biggest part of the United States, although we have missed the northern most eastern states. We have been to the original Legoland in Denmark, and the ones in California and Florida. One thing we have really have enjoyed is traveling by Amtrak because we can enjoy the scenery while someone else is doing the “driving”. We can get on and off to take side trips and see other new sites. If we were to travel by plane, we would just fly from home to our destination and miss all the wonderful places in between. We have been to underground caves, below the surface of the ocean and on high mountain peaks. The thing about traveling is that you see different cultures and are constantly learning about the lives of other people and what makes each nation or region unique. It has also made us realize just how blessed we are and how fortunate to have family to share in our lives.

Rollerdrome in Culver City, Calif. 1928 to 1972 over 30,000 square feet of skating surface. We were the last to be in the building. I would sit in one of the all wood benches made out of thick wood and would think what would it be like to be here in 1928. I was only 18 but I love old buildings. It was so nice inside. Sad
I was standing watching them film this movie a block from my apt. They film all over Glendale, Calif. So I talked to this guy working on the film and he said would you like a job working special effects. They need two guys. Sure I have a friend Tom Eagle. So we worked with Tim Baar he won a Oscar for the 1960 Time Machine. Love that movie. Tim called us back to work on a Toyota commercial. We had fun talking to Tim. He worked on so many movies and commercials. Remember the 1960’s Jolly Green Gaint. HO HO HO Green Gaint. He did that. I did lots of photography for years and I lost most of my Blob pictures. Moving too much I guess.
We went to Devil’s Tower and the Badlands in Ray’s sister’s Bounder motorhome. So much fun. We made a VHS tape of the trip. The bad thing was the weather was 100° in the Badlands and we took the motorhome with no A/C. Stan was supposed to fix it before they left San Diego, Ca. We went to Wall Drug and got a lot of free ice water.
We lived in Montana but Ray’s family lived in Calif. So we would stop overnight in Las Vegas on the way. Got to see the town grow over the years. We went to Hoover Dam. Took in some of the shows in Vegas.
Click the button above for Plymouth. In 1984 we were stationed in the Air Force at McGuire AFB, NJ. So we took a trip up north to Salem, MA and on the way stopped at Plymouth, Cape Cod, and Mystic Seaport. Yes, we have VHS video of the trip. Got to see the changing of the trees and at Plymouth actors for Thanksgiving month. So they put on a lot of shows around the colony.
Corvette Museum, Bowling Green, Kentucky Remember the sink hole? We are standing right where it happened in 2004. Sink hole: Feb 12, 2014 Ray’s brother had a 1963 Corvette for years.

Victoria, capital of British Columbia, sits on the craggy southern end of Vancouver Island. With abundant parkland, it’s known for outdoor activities. The city's British colonial past shows in its Victorian architecture, including stately Craigdarroch Castle mansion. Butchart Gardens, with 55 acres of vivid floral displays. We have been to Victoria about 3 times. We took Joanie’s mom and stayed at the The Empress hotel and had high tea. She loved it.
Germany 1981 to 1984 Neuschwanstein Castle is by far our favorite castle. We have been to many of them. We took tours to other counties.

We love to travel by train. The Empire Builder route is the best for us. We could leave Montana at 5:00 pm and be in Washington by 10:00am. We have been all over. Down the coast of Washington to Calif. over to Denver. From Chicago to Washington D.C. and down to Florida. We also took the Sunset Limited from Calif. to Orlando, FL. before Katrina took out the tracks. Always get a sleeper.
